Humor Negra (Black humour) is not just a comedy show but a declaration of intentions. In this anti-racist, afro-feminist monologue, Asaari Bibang uses humour to openly talk about the particularities of being a Black migrant woman in Spain.
In 30 minutes, the artist takes the audience on a journey that forces them to look at a series of topics from prejudices to stereotypes, while inviting them to accompany her on her own journey of deconstruction.
As such, she brings us back to reality with a dynamic show from start to finish in which she touches upon topics such as the White Savior Complex, the importance of representation, the “only Black person”, interracial parallels, and the hyper sexualisation of Black women in the collective imaginary.
In this monologue, Bibang, bold and visceral, makes us think while we laugh, and laugh while we think. A stand-up with a message.
