Rocío Berenguer

Artist

Rocio Berenguer is an undisciplined artist who projects humanity towards a trans-species world between reality and fiction. She creates shows, installations, and performances that combine poetry, choreography, video creations, and digital technology. She creates surprising prospective fiction around the link between art and science.

In 2023, she created THEBADWEEDS, an irreverent fiction led by a trans-species music group that sings about the post-Anthropocene. She boldly configures an imaginary world based on desire and pleasure as a response to anxious and fatalist imaginaries rooted in fear and shame in order to open minds up to ecology and the future.

In 2019, she was a resident artist at EUAILab, and from 2020 to 2022, she was at Théâtre de la Ville in Paris where she developed the Laboratoire de Mythologies Contemporaines (Laboratory for Contemporary Mythology). Her work has been exhibited at the Centre des Arts d'Enghien-les-Bains, the Nemo International Biennial of Digital Arts, the Biennial of Digital Imaginaries-Chroniques, and the Nova XX Biennial at the Centre Wallonie Bruxelles. Her work has been exported beyond her native borders to Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Canada, Cote d’Ivoire, Morrocco, India, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
