THEBADWEEDS is a trans-species music group made up of human weed hybrids that upon hearing the cry, “the future is vegetable,” break out into a dance dedicated to ecological transition. Weeds grow in the most inhospitable, wild, and anarchic places. Their existence is an act of resilience and living proof of resistance. By appropriating the codes of mainstream culture, these strange trans-species and transplanetary hybrids use humour to show the power of adaptation and plant transformation in an embodiment of the ecological, feminist, and queer transition.
In this creation, Rocío Berenguer offers an irreverent creation inspired in the solarpunk movement, and contributes to the construction of an optimistic future based on present-day concerns. Berenguer combines choreographic composition, poetic text, and musical creation with the aim of composing an ecological tale based on desire and bonds.
