Cecilia Dreymüller is a specialist in German and Central European literature, literary critic, and translator. With a PhD in Spanish Philology, she was a lecturer at the Pompeu Fabra University of Barcelona, and has worked for the newspapers Süddeutsche Zeitung, Deutschlandfunk, and ABC Cultural, as well as writing regularly for Babelia, the cultural supplement of El País.

In Spanish, she has published Incisiones. Panorama crítico de la narrativa en lengua alemana desde 1945 (Incisions: A Critical Overview of German-Language Fiction Since 1945, Galaxia Gutenberg, 2008) and Confluencias. Antología de la mejor narrativa alemana actual (Confluences: An Anthology of Best German Fiction Today, Alpha Decay, 2014), in which she brings together twenty unpublished texts of leading representatives of present-day fiction in German. She is an authority on the works of great German-language authors, among them Peter Handke, of whose work she has translated Preguntando entre lágrimas (Asking among Tears, Alento, 2011) and the essays Contra el sueño profundo (Against Deep Sleep, Nórdica, 2017), and Herta Müller, whose book of collage-poems Father’s on the Phone with the Flies she edited and translated into Spanish (El funcionario dijo, TresMolins, 2024).
