Rocío Quillahuaman
Illustrator and writer
Rocío Quillahuaman was born in Lima in 1994 and arrived in Barcelona in 2005. She studied Audiovisual Communication at the University of Barcelona and has worked as an editor and screenwriter. At the age of twenty, she started to draw portraits for fun but she got carried away and since has drawn over 300 portraits which have been exhibited in Madrid and Barcelona. Self-taught, she started to create animated videos which became very popular on her social networks for their critical tone and humour. The unique language of her creations coupled with her pungent and sarcastic sense of humour, which she uses to make observations on culture and contemporary society, have made her a leading artist today.
She collaborates with various brands, organisations, and entities creating animation pieces and illustrations. She has created over 500 animations and has written her first book Marrón, published by Blackie Books. In 2024, she was a resident at the Spanish Academy in Rome, where she created her first animation short film.
