A city’s urban fabric does not recognise municipal limits. Social complexity grows much more quickly than the capacity of institutions to adapt, while new centralities and peripheral areas appear where before there were none. The parameters of inequality and exclusion have old and new formats. There is a tangible and intangible city. Urban culture gradually expands but so does the city’s dependency on its surroundings.
This dialogue between Joan Subirats, Full Professor of Political Science, and Alessandro Balducci, Professor of Urban Policies, aims to associate the lesser visible dynamics that are transforming cities and to explore methods of adaptation and collective governance of both cities in a strict sense and their inseparable urban reality.
