Chris Ealham

Historian and lecturer

Chris Ealham works at Saint Louis University Madrid Campus. He is a specialist in the history of anarchist and anarcho-syndicalist movements in Spain and has published various academic articles on these subjects in English, Spanish, Catalan, Italian, French, and Russian. He is also the author of two books on this topic: Class, Culture and Conflict in Barcelona 1898-1937 and Living Anarchism: José Peirats and the Spanish Anarcho-Syndicalist Movement, published by Routledge and AK Press in 2005 and 2015 [CW1] respectively.  He currently focuses his research on anarcho-syndicalist insurrectionism and is writing the biography of Juan García Oliver for Editorial Debate. His first experience with the meaning of democracy was within the British anti-fascist movement during the Thatcher era.
