In a complex, uncertain, volatile world, fear of the future and distress is bound to spread everywhere.  In the absence of reliable leaders and mediating institutions, the threat of a dark future intensifies, one where large tech companies replace feudal lords as the colonisers of social networks. Nonetheless, the scenarios for the future are open and depend on humans’ ability to react and come up with alternatives to today’s major challenges.

What kind of society will emerge and what will be the impact of technological, biological advances and global socio-ecological challenges? Where is the world headed? Will major decisions be in the hands of artificial intelligence (AI) and the companies that create algorithms? Or will human communities come together and offer up alternatives? These and other questions will be discussed with Martí Domínguez and Llucia Ramis.
