Josep Maria Esquirol is a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Barcelona where he teaches contemporary philosophy courses and directs the Aporia Research Group (dedicated to studying the relationship between philosophy and psychiatry). He has published around a dozen books, including: The Intimate Resistance (2015), which won the Ciutat de Barcelona Prize and Spanish National Essay Prize; La Penúltima Bondat (2018); Humà, Més Humà (2021); and L’Escola de l’Ànima (2024). His works have been translated into Italian, Portuguese, English, and German
