Anne Waldman is a living legend of American poetry and international reference point for spoken word poetry. Born in 1945, she overflows all definitions and boxes: she is a performer, activist, director of the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics - founded with Allen Ginsberg - and an advocate of the idea that poetry is thought, music and political action. The year 2022 saw the publication of Para ser estrella en medianoche, the first anthology that brings together poems from throughout her career.
The poet will perform in the Women's Courtyard of the CCCB accompanied by local artists in a unique session that aims to vindicate poetry as a tool for transmitting ideas and new ways of acting. The poet Eduard Escoffet and the musicians Adriano Galante, Los Sara Fontán and Pablo Volt will establish a dialogue with Waldman that promises to be a high-voltage evening to unclog neurons and open up new poetic and sonic landscapes.
