After graduating in architecture and urban planning at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB-UPC), she founded, together with Enric Miralles, the studio with which she achieved international recognition, with projects such as the Igualada Cemetery. In 1991, she set up his own architectural studio, with a wide range of projects ranging from urban refurbishment and public works to furniture design.

Her risk-taking attitude and constant research has earned her worldwide recognition and has contributed to the projection of Catalan architecture in Europe and the American continent.

Her most recent projects include the Plaça de la Gardunya complex, the Massana School of Art and the rear façade of the Boqueria Market, an intervention with which she succeeded in an exemplary manner in stitching together the urban fabric of the historic centre of Barcelona. Other notable projects include the CaixaForum Zaragoza Cultural Centre, the Department Building on the WU Campus in Vienna, and the Cube I and Cube II Office Towers in Guadalajara, Mexico. She has recently inaugurated the extension and refurbishment of the Son Brull Hotel in Mallorca and the MPavilion 2018 in Melbourne, making her the first Spanish architect to build a public building in Australia.

Her international projection has earned her numerous awards and mentions. These include the Gold Medal for Architecture 2022, the Arnold W. Bruner Award 2022 from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and the National Architecture Award 2021.
