A great public reception marks the successful outcome of the Biennial
The third Biennial of Thought has come to an end, and has done so with a great power of convocation. The 2022 Biennial has been the Biennial of the absolute return to face-to-face experience, after a 2020 edition conditioned by the health restrictions derived from the pandemic. It has also been the Biennial of the alliance with Palma and Valencia, two cities with which Barcelona has shared a joint edition that has highlighted the ties that articulate a shared cultural space.
From Plaza Joan Coromines to the squares of GrĂ cia, passing through - among others - Plaza Real, the CCCB, the CanĂ²drom or the former headquarters of the Gustau Gili publishing house. A handful of venues scattered throughout the city have hosted sessions that have attracted the interest of citizens in a very fruitful exchange of ideas around major contemporary debates: the problems of today's democratic systems, the multiple challenges and perspectives involved in the construction of cities and the critical analysis of the incessant technological change that shapes our lives have been three lines of argument that, broadly speaking, can summarise the programme we have enjoyed this year. All of this, punctuated by diverse artistic languages that have once again manifested the capacity that cultural creation possesses to put more or less disruptive discourses on the table.
To put it in figures, more than 20,000 people attended some of the nearly seventy activities in the official programme, to which should be added those who participated in the thirty or so activities of the +Biennial, those organised by numerous cultural entities in the city. A public reception that confirms the absolute consolidation of an event model, and that pushes us to start dreaming and planning the next edition.
