Serena Olsaretti

Political philosopher

Serena Olsaretti defines herself as a political philosopher. She works at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona and as a Research Professor at ICREA, the Catalan Institute of Research and Advanced Studies. Before moving to Barcelona, she was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of St. John’s College. At Pompeu Fabra, she works in the Law Department and is a member of the Law and Philosophy Group and the Scientific Committee of the BIAP - the Barcelona Institute for Analytic Philosophy.

Her research focuses on theories of justice, the ethics of markets, and theories of well-being. Since moving to Barcelona, she has been especially interested in questions of justice involving the family, but has also continued to work on libertarianism, desert, and egalitarianism. Between 2015 and 2021, she headed an ERC-funded project on justice and family. She is currently working on a book on parental justice.
