Six days of shared reflection
Adam Przeworski, Antonio Damasio, Yuval Noah Harari, Carla Simón, George Monbiot, Carolyn Steel, Carles Boix, Chantal Mouffe, Alice Munyua, Renata Ávila, Nnenna Nwakanma, Carolin Emcke and Svetlana Aleksiévich are some of the more than 200 names in this Biennial of Thought.
From 11 to 16 October, the third edition of the Biennial of Thought will bring more than 60 activities to the streets and squares of Barcelona, to dialogue and reflect with the public on the major issues of today: the socio-political system, technological change and the physical configuration of cities. Post-colonialism, digital rights, de-globalisation, obedience to science, climate change and technology, opinion and democracy, NFTs, the role of the family, the realities of Europe, linguistic diversity, whistleblowing, creation and artificial intelligence are some of the concepts that will resonate in the activities of this Biennial.
An edition that includes programming on both public holidays and working days and that is made available to the public following a decentralised logic, with spaces in different districts: Plaça de Joan Coromines, the Canòdrom, La Model, Plaça Reial, Editorial Gustau Gili, Can Felipa, El Pati de les Dones and Sala Raval of the CCCB, the headquarters of the COAC and Plaça del Diamant, Plaça de les Dones del 36 and Plaça de la Virreina, all three of them in Gràcia.
The programme of this Biennial has been configured by an advisory board made up of the CCCB, the architect and musician Núria Moliner, the architect Josep Ferrando, the digital innovation expert Liliana Arroyo, the professor of Political Science Ignacio Sánchez-Cuenca, the writer and Hellenist Raül Garrigasait and the journalist Ángela Precht.
In addition, as in previous editions, the +Biennial will be added to the set of proposals and spaces, as a result of the alliances forged with entities and institutions that promote critical thinking through their daily activities. Thus, the art, creation and thought centres that have joined the event during the days it is held organise the activities of the +Biennial section, expanding the network of spaces and the scope of this edition.
As for the relationship with Palma and Valencia, this Biennial will have a marked Mediterranean perspective, the result of the desire for cooperation between the cities to highlight the value of what unites them, based on the particularities and idiosyncrasies of each one. Within this framework, on 15 October, the recital Fuster, Ferrater, Bonet: canon in three voices will be held simultaneously in the three cities. Likewise, the Barcelona programme will also be related to the other capitals in different ways, for example, with a wink to Valencian literature with sessions on Fuster or sharing participants with the Palma sessions, such as Adam Przeworski and Sofi Oksanen.
