Lara Almarcegui
Artist
She has created an artistic practice based on the exploration of material aspects of land and urban space. For some 20 years she has been working in different cities identifying abandoned and disused sites, examining the processes of contemporary transformation brought about by social, political and economic changes. She analyses the construction materials used in new buildings and the cyclical relationship between land and architecture.
She has exhibited in several art centres, museums and biennials, such as the Spanish Pavilion at the 55th Venice Biennale. She works with Galerie Ellen of Bruijne Projects, Amsterdam, and Mor & Charpentier, Paris, among others. Solo exhibitions include Basalt (Ming Studios, Idaho), Graves (La Panera Art Centre, Lleida) and Descampado ex-Rio Tinto (FRAC PACA, Marseille 2021), among many others.
