He is Managing Director of Perseus Strategies, a public interest law firm, Secretary and General Counsel of the Neurorights Foundation, an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center, and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Known to the New York Times as “The Extractor” for his work freeing political prisoners, he was previously a partner in the government affairs practice of the law firm DLA Piper LLP and a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.
He is a special advisor on Responsibility to Protect to the Organization of American States and is a winner of the Tällberg/Eliasson Global Leadership 2020 Award. His past clients have included former President of the Czech Republic, Václav Havel, and Nobel Peace Prize Laureates Liu Xiaobo, Desmond Tutu and Elie Wiesel.
He received a BA from Cornell University, an M.P.P from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government and a JD cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School.
