Denise Duncan
Actress, playwright and theatre director, scriptwriter and writing teacher
As a director and playwright, she has premiered some twenty plays in Spain, Costa Rica and the United States, including Negrata de merda (2019), El combat del segle (2020-2021) and Títuba. Bruixa, negra i ramera (2022).
Duncan holds a degree in Directing and Playwriting from the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona (2012), a degree in Dramatic Arts (2004) and a degree in Journalism from the University of Costa Rica (2004). She has also completed a postgraduate course in Social Media Content: Community Manager and Content Curation (2017) and a master's degree in Theatre and Audiovisual Studies from the University of La Coruña (2004).
She has won awards such as the runner-up prize for theatre texts Marqués de Bradomín 2005, the City of Manacor Theatre Award and Jaume Vidal Alcover 2018. She has been an author of the VII Laboratorio de Escritura Teatral de la Fundación SGAE 2019, resident author at the Sala Beckett in Barcelona (2019-2020), founding member of La Pulpe Teatre, with which she is currently in residence at the Teatro Tantarantana (El Cicló, 2019-2021), and founding member of the collective Tinta Negra and of the Advisory Board of the magazine Acotacions (RESAD 2020).
