Carolina Astudillo
Filmmaker and researcher
She is a filmmaker, journalist, researcher and teacher. With a degree in Film Studies from the Catholic University of Chile and a Masters in Creative Documentary from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAM), she has developed her work in research, documentary creation and writing with the articulating axis of women and historical memory.
Her work oscillates between experimental and documentary film. Her works have been exhibited in museums and educational institutions. Both her first feature film, El gran vuelo (2014), and her second, Ainhoa, yo no soy esa (2018), have won the Silver Biznaga for Best Documentary at the Malaga Festival, among other awards at national and international festivals. Since 2016 she has been a member of the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AACCE). She teaches courses, seminars and masterclasses at various national and international universities. She has recently released her third feature film, Canción a una dama en la sombra (2021).
She has written and directed the film Esa fugaz esencia que dejaron los sucesos, selected for the Simfonies de ciutat project and produced by the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) in collaboration with Dones Visuals, which premieres at the D'A Film Festival 2022.
