Population ageing is at the heart of the debate on the sustainability of the welfare state. In this context, understanding the mechanisms that define health inequalities is key to designing policies aimed at improving the health of the elderly. In this way, it is necessary to bear in mind the truly significant effect that socioeconomic and gender inequalities have on the health of the population, over and above other mechanisms such as genetic factors or the health system itself. As a result, the fairest societies are those with the healthiest populations.

The documentary DesigualdadES. Clase, género y salud brings together previous and new knowledge on how socioeconomic inequalities affect the health of the population in Spain, with an emphasis on gender inequalities, as these increase women's vulnerability and worsen their health. This documentary seeks to contribute to the debate on the effects of social inequalities on health and the importance of the gender perspective to understand the reality.

The documentary will be presented by Jordi Gumà, researcher at the Department of Sociology at the University of Umeå (Sweden) and principal investigator of the INTERSOC-HEALTH project, the results of which have provided the content of the documentary. He is also the scriptwriter.
